INTERLOCKING

Make: SIEMENS

INTERLOCKING HIERARCHY:

A SIEMENS IXL (Interlocking) could have a maximum of 10 Interlocking Areas, each having a dedicated SIMIS PC system.

INTERLOCKING AREAs

Each IXL area comprises a 2X2-out-of-2 SIMIS PC system enclosed in a SIMIS PC Cabinet.
Each PC can have 12 EOM ECCs (Element Operating Module- Element Control Computers).
So in a nutshell, a SIMIS PC controls the entire IXL area, eg: NFD, AVIT.
And each of the possible 12 ECCs control a select group of Signalling installations within the IXL Area.

Now lets move to the configuration of Simis PC (CPCI) / ECC computer cabinet

Essentials of Interlocking

Before laying out the Essentials of Interlocking, lets just understand or refresh our knowledge  by the Definition of Interlocking:

"An arrangement of signals, points and appliances, operated from a panel or lever frame, so interconnected by Mechanical locking or electrical locking or both that their operation must take place in proper sequence to ensure safety".
